Just A Few Sandwiches Short of a Picnic!
If you are anything like me you relish the few warm days summer has to offer. It is no surprise that Cleveland’s summers are as short as my attention span. Not to mention every local spot can be super crowded on those nice days. Keep reading to find some of Cleveland’s hidden gems and you guessed my Top 3 picnic picks.
Acacia Reservation:
My first pick seems pretty unlikely it exists. Tucked behind Beachwood Mall and Legacy Village you can find the Acacia Reservation. This spot is so unique that you wouldn’t even know it was there at first glance. Hidden in the tall grass and trees is a beautiful pond where you can fish, walk your dog, and even find easels set up with people painting or sketching their depictions of the landscape around. Behind the loud traffic, cars, and bustling people, you can feel the world slow to halt when you enter the reservation. Plenty of great spots to lay down a blanket and read but my favorite will always be next to the pond.

Wade Lagoon:
Located by the Cleveland Museum of Art, you can find Wade Lagoon the perfect place to hide from all the city bustle. Beautiful Cherry Blossom trees and Weeping Willows will make you want to lie on the bench and soak in the views all day. Bordered by Euclid Avenue and Rockefeller Park, it is truly magical in every season. Enchanted by the park, you can find works of art all over. It truly is a tremendous experience.
East Harbor State Park Beach:
Last but not least. East Harbor lies on the edge of Ohio’s prairie marsh zone. Visitors can enjoy everything such as swimming, boating, fishing, camping, hiking, and you guessed it picnicking. With a plethora of birds, it is a great spot to relax and see the abundance of wildlife. It is the perfect place to watch the sunset and enjoy the last few days of summer.
